Austin and Sarah’s Wedding at The Inn at Mystic in Mystic, CT was truly a memory we won’t forget. We’ve photographed at this charming wedding venue before and plainly stated fell in love with the Inn’s unique charm.
These two high school teachers are an adventurous, outdoorsy and fun-loving duo. Some words that describe their personalities are welcoming, joyous, and full of laughter. Whenever we can get the opportunity to photograph a couple with these traits, we know the results are going to be truly authentic and genuine.
This couple’s engagement session turned out to be a fairly warm winters day in December, and the glowing sunshine low in the sky helped give a romantic cozy feel at Gillette’s Castle State Park.
Starting the day wedding day at a Connecticut Shoreline Beach House
The wedding day in September started off at the groom’s beach house on the gorgeous shoreline of Connecticut. The sun was bright with not a cloud in the sky that morning. The guys were all getting ready inside the quaint beach house which had a really family-friendly vibe. Kelley and I felt welcome the moment we stepped in the door. After the groomsmen got dressed in everything but the jackets, we took a stroll down to the open sandy beach and had some fun. The groomsmen definitely made our jobs easy as we took a few formal portraits but quickly got in some hilarious photos. The pictures speak for themselves and how much we were laughing as we continued to snap away.
Inn at Mystic Wedding Ceremony
Once we arrived at the Inn at Mystic the girls were getting ready still, so we quickly got our cameras out and started photographing the memories as they unfolded. Some of these included fun photos of champagne toasting out on the room’s balcony, which can fit a lot of people at once with room to spare! After capturing the unbelievably stunning wedding details, it was time for Sarah to put on her dress, and eventually have her father come to see her for the first time that day. To say that moment was emotional is an understatement, and you can see that clear as day in the photo.
The First Look at the Inn at Mystic
Before the wedding ceremony, Austin and Sarah wanted to do a first look, so they could have a private moment to see each other for the first time. As always, the moment is unbelievably special and didn’t go without some tears! We walked around the grounds following the first look to capture their portraits, as well as the wedding party which almost always never goes without tons of laughter. This group did not disappoint!
Charming Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony couldn’t have been any more perfect no matter what way you look at it. The sun was shining, the temperature was around 75 with low humidity and a slight breeze. Austin and Sarah said their vows beautifully surrounded by their loved ones and officially tied the knot. As they walked down the aisle as husband and wife for the first time, we were able to capture a few photos that clearly showed pure emotional joy. When you capture those as the photographer, you feel like you won the lottery every single time.
As the reception went into the evening, we made sure to grab the happy couple and sneak off on to the grounds at sunset to take a few more epic photos. Nothing beats that golden hour and we make sure to take advantage of it when we can. Afterward, it was all dancing, fun, and memories being made for the rest of the night. We had SO much fun capturing as much as we could!
